COMMANDANT’S COMMENTS

My fellow Marines, as we celebrate the 237th birthday of our beloved Corps this November 10th, I cannot help but think of Ronald Reagan’s quote, “Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world, but the marines don’t have that problem.”  We in the Waukesha County Detachment Marine Corps League strive to continue making a difference in our community.  I thank you for your faithfulness to the league and look forward to more opportunities to make a difference in the lives of our local Veterans and their families during the upcoming holiday season.

And, Happy Veteran’s Day!  I realized many of us experienced loss far greater than we can express when we think back to our time of service, bet let’s remember that this national holiday was given to us as a time to celebrate, or better yet commemorate, the Veteran.  The original proclamation reads in part:  “in order that a grateful Nation might pay appropriate homage to the Veterans of all its wars who have contributed so much to the preservation of this Nation…”  Let us not take away the blessing for those who wish to pay homage to us this November 11th and offer up a simple “it has been my honor”, because for me, it has indeed been an honor.
